2007 Contest Rules (*)
- Judging is open and judge's decision is FINAL.
- Points will NOT be accumulative. Judging will be in OLD TIME STYLE and based on Technical ability & Old Time Dance-ability.
- Contestants must play a WALTZ, JIG, and a REEL in that order within a 4-minute time limit. Finalists in the championship Class will play a WALTZ, JIG, REEL and a tune of choice within 5 minutes. (Tune of choice must not be a novelty tune i.e. OBS, Black Mountain Rag etc.)
- Each contestant may enter only one class, with the exception of the Twin or Traditional. (i.e. Open & Twin or Open & Traditional)
- Twin Fiddle and Junior/Junior contestants must play a waltz and a tune of choice other than a waltz.
- Traditional fiddling is a reel played without accompaniment other than the contestant's feet.
- Maximum of two accompanists, contestants may use their own. Accompanist must adhere to basic chords only (Otherwise points may be deducted from competitor). A keyboard will be supplied on stage.
- Finalists must play 3 different tunes with the exception of Junior/Junior & Twin Class.
- In case of an accident beyond player's control (broken string, power failure), contestant may replay.
- In case of a tie, there will be ONE PLAYOFF ONLY.
- The number of competitors to play off in the finals in each class corresponds to the number of payout positions in each class.
- Contestants who win 1 particular class for 2 consecutive years must either move up 1 class or drop out for 1 year.
- Anyone under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be disqualified.

Practice Room
A practice place will be provided located in a designated building on the property for contestants to practice & warm up prior to the event. There will also be a piano for the contestants' use during the competition as well as a stand-by accompanist for those contestants not having their own.
Recording Artists
Any contestants or members of the Wild Rose Old Tyme Fiddle Association wishing to sell Cassette's & CD's of their fiddle music will be allowed to set up at tables provided for this purpose only. Those wishing to do so will be required to purchase admission.
