OLD TIME FIDDLE CHAMPIONSHIP
(GNA)
The Grand North American Old-Time Fiddle Championship (GNA) has been held continuously since 1984, taking place annually on the third weekend in July. This family event is open to fiddlers of all levels and ages, and competitors have ranged in age from 6 years to 101 years of age. Many have gone on to become finalists or winners at the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddle Contest.
The Wild Rose Old Tyme Fiddlers Association, in collaboration with Alberta Society of Fiddlers and Prairie Mountain Fiddlers, co-hosted the Canadian Grand Masters Competition in Morinville Alberta in August 2016. The Canadian Grand Masters Champion that year was local fiddler Daniel Gervais.
The 39th Annual Grand North American Fiddle Championship will be held at the Dow Centennial Centre in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta from Thursday July 13 to Sunday July 16, 2023.
FRIDAY NIGHT OLD TIME FAMILY DANCE
The Wild Rose Old Tyme Fiddlers Association also puts on the annual Grand North American Fiddle Championships: — a 4 day family event, happening on the 3rd weekend of July in Fort Saskatchwan —
The competition venue is the Dow Centennial Centre in Fort Saskatchewan and the host hotel is the Comfort Inn.
The judged competition (one of the highest cash prize payouts in North America) happens all day Saturday and Sunday, with many classes ranging from Junior Junior through Senior and including a Championship class for the most talented performers!
Judges perform a Judges Showcase on the Saturday evening
One of the highlights of the weekend is the Saturday night old-tyme family dance, with dancers coming from all over.
We hope you come out and enjoy the festivities, and if you’re a fiddle player, why not register and take a shot at the some prize money.
